Mental health themes are woven throughout all of my stories. I believe fantasy fiction is the perfect genre for discussing difficult topics because we as readers are already used to "suspending our disbelief." The willingness to see and think about things differently than normal that accompanies the fantasy genre makes it easier to extend that willingness towards topics we may usually shy away from. Not only that, but fiction also provides a protective buffer between what happens in the story and what has happened in our own lives.

The Mage Bonds of Embermoore is one story told in six parts. Each part is structured to follow the general process of healing from trauma as I have experienced it:

• Part 1: Crisis

• Part 2: Aftermath

• Part 3: Changing Direction

• Part 4: Mending

• Part 5: New Foundations

• Part 6: Rebuilding.

When we experience something traumatic in our lives, our world shrinks down to the bare essentials so that we can focus on survival. The more we heal, the more our world opens up again. I've written this book in the same way. Each part builds off of each other, allowing you to experience the characters and world of the story expand and grow.
